Lewisham Southwark College Shortlisted for New London Awards 2017

The recently completed redevelopment of Lewisham Southwark College’s Waterloo campus, has been shortlisted for the New London Awards in the ‘Education’ category. The category called for educational establishments of all kinds ‘where design enhances the learning experience’. RHA completed the £40M project with Platform 5 Architects earlier this year. The Yarrow Hotel Finalist for Construction Project of the Year Award

The Yarrow has been announced as a finalist in the Kent Excellence in Business Awards 2017 (KEiBA awards). Nominated by the contractor WW Martin, the category called for sustainable buildings that will ‘deliver a positive legacy’ to their area. The project included a £4.5M refurbishment of the Grade II Listed former children’s hospital, for East Kent College. The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on 22nd June. The hotel also recently won an RICS award for Best Commercial Building in the South East. Read more about the history of the project in Inside Kent’s recent article online.

The Yarrow Hotel Wins RICS Award 2017

RHA are delighted that the Yarrow Hotel has been awarded an RICS South East Award in the Commercial category. This award honours ‘an outstanding commercial property development whether retail office or leisure’ and was described by the judges as an ‘exemplar practical learning centre for apprentices in the hospitality trade.’ The Yarrow Hotel is a former children’s hospital that has been converted into a 28 bedroom hotel with 4 star facilities. The hotel is owned and run by East Kent College and opened to the public in July 2016. The project has now been submitted into the national awards which take place in November.

Lewisham Southwark College Shortlisted for RICS Awards 2017

Lewisham Southwark College has been shortlisted for the RICS awards 2017 in two categories: ‘Design Through Innovation’ and ‘Community Benefit’. RHA have recently completed the £40M redevelopment of the college with Platform 5 Architects. The final phase of the redevelopment provides new facilities for drama and the performing and digital arts, as well as a new business school and suite of teaching spaces. It also establishes the triple height atrium space as the heart of the college encouraging interdisciplinary interaction across the campus. The awards ceremony will be held in May. RHA are delighted to announce that a second project - The Yarrow Hotel - has also been shortlisted for the RICS awards 2017, in two more categories: ‘Leisure and Tourism’ and ‘Commercial’. The project included the £4.5M remodelling and refurbishment of the Grade II Listed Jacobethan building for East Kent College. The building is a former children’s hospital which has now been converted into a 4 star hotel run by industry professionals as well as students of the college. The hotel opened in July 2016 and has been well received by the public and community alike. The hotel has also recently won a Kent Design and Development award for Best Public Building in the Education category. For more information about the hotel and the award click here

RHA are delighted to announce that The Yarrow Hotel has won the award for ‘Best Public Education Building’ at last night’s Kent Design & Development Awards ceremony. The project included the remodelling and refurbishment of a Grade II Listed Jacobethan building for East Kent College to use as a training hotel. The Yarrow Hotel opened to the public in July 2016. Yarrow Hotel: Kent Design and Development Awards 2016 Finalists

The Yarrow training Hotel has been shortlisted in three separate categories for the biennial Kent Design and Development Awards 2016. The Categories include: Commercial, Public Buildings (Education) and Conservation. The project brief included the complete refurbishment of an historic Grade II Listed building in Broadstairs, for the use of East Kent College as a training facility for its students. The Ashes Folly project has also been nominated for this award in the residential category and the winners are to be announced in December.

The Ashes Folly has been shortlisted for the biennial Kent Design and Development Awards, in the Residential Category. The project included the remodelling and contemporary extension of a Victorian House, in Hadlow, Kent. The winners will be announced in December.

The Ashes Folly: Brick Awards 2016 Finalist

RHA are delighted to announce that The Ashes Folly has been shortlisted for the Brick Awards 2016, in the ‘Individual House’ Category. The award considers any type of new dwelling that demonstrates how ‘brick can be used in an inspirational way in both contemporary and traditional settings.’ The awards received over 200 entries and the winners are announced on 10th November 2016. The Ashes Folly

We are delighted that The Ashes Folly was a finalist for an RIBA South East award. The project included the remodelling of internal spaces in a Victorian House and new contemporary two storey extension.

The design aims to bring natural daylight into the main living spaces and maximise views across the Kent countryside.

Lewisham Southwark College has won the AJ Retrofit Higher Education Building of the Year. The judges commended the dramatic stair and improved efficiency of the design.

The Ashes Folly

RHA are a finalist for the RIBA Journal Viewpoint Competition 2015. The scheme was commended for its control of views, ‘turning the ordinary into extraordinary’.

Waltham Forest College Phase 1

RHA have won the Retro Expo Award 2013. The national award panel commended the team design for making a dramatic impact on the culture and running costs of the college through good design and exemplary communication.
