Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve Competition

Sevenoaks Wildlife Reserve Competition

RHA ‘s Nature and Wellbeing Centre for an international competition run by the RIBA is an exemplar in sustainability. The competition brief asked for a new £2M flagship visitor centre for the Kent Wildlife Trust on their existing reserve in Sevenoaks. The concept for the competition entry consisted of re-imaging and extending the existing concrete frame building to create a bridge between the formal welcome area and wild reserve beyond. Projecting from the building is a viewing platform formed from stacked recycled shipping containers, that rises above the trees and offers visitors a new perspective on the nature and activity within the woodlands.
